Vincent van Gogh decides to move to Paris. Arriving in Paris, the artist tries his hand at different trades. He becomes an assistant teacher, then a pastor, later a preacher, and finally a volunteer in a bookstore, and for a short time begins studying theology, for which he moves back to the Netherlands.
After leaving school earlier than planned, in July 1869 he began training at the art dealer Goupil & Co in The Hague. He is then transferred to the London branch, where he feels lonely and unhappy. His dissatisfaction can be found today in many of the drawings the artist made during his time in England.
Van Gogh is treated at the hospital after he has cut himself off one of his ears. During the hospitalization Gauguin travels to Paris and her friendship is over. Vincent Van Gogh is increasingly in nervous crises. He withdraws to devote himself exclusively to his art. Most of his pictures are taken during the last 10 years of his life.
In 1888 Van Gogh lives with Paul Gauguin in Arles in southern France. His dream is to found an artist community there. At this time arises the series of his famous sunflower pictures. In the same year, however, worsened the mental state of Van Gogh. His relationship with Gaugin is influenced by this and ends in a strong dispute between the two.
